Studio Reports:  Tool

Friendly Reminder: New Tool Album Underway

By Johnny Firecloud

Danny Carey, Tool‘s polyrhythmically demonic drummer, did an interview not too long ago in which he shared the promising news that the time signature-molesting legends will be entering the studio to begin tracking their new album “sometime in June or July.” By our calendar, that means now.

Another fascinating little tidbit is that Justin Chancellor has been contributing with a heavy hand on the new material, something that has served the band quite well in the past.

We’ll keep you posted on developments.

ToolArchive just took this off of the Vic Firth 3 part youtube spotlight of danny carey that was out in march. http://www.vicfirth.com/artists/carey.php This also probably before he knew maynard was gonna have a summer tour with puscifer.

Way to post old speculative news. I hope this guy doesn’t actually get paid to write this shit. Go punch yourself in the face.

    Dear Tool,

Please create something raw and heavy, similar to Undertow. Leave the Lateralus framework alone, that album was a masterpiece so no need to replicate. Aenema would be a nice framework to follow, but I think Undertow would be fabulous.

    Sincerely,

    Satan

I wrote two PhD theses within the time these four guys are taking to complete a single Tool album.

Somone who was in elementary school at the time 10,000 days came out can have his BSc degree by the time Tool releases their new album.

If Tool releases their new album on Dec. 1, 2012, and their album has the same runtime as their last album, they will have spent 45,744 minutes of time for every minute of music on their album.

But its not like they have been together writing this album for that length of time, just takes them that length of time to get together to work on something. All members of the band have different things they are involved in. They only got together last year or something to start writing a new album.

  5. To the people talking shit about how long tool takes to release their album go fuck yourself. Tool is an all around awesome band and they actually have to take alot time and put some effort into it.
