Studio Reports: Phish
Phish Set To Release ‘Chicago ’94′ Box Set
On July 31st Phish will release their latest live collection Chicago ’94. The six disc set will feature two complete shows recorded at the UIC Pavilion on 06/18/94 and 11/25/94.
The summer of 1994 was the first tour where Phish began to create multi-track recordings of their shows onto 2 track DAT. Paul Languedoc’s stereo soundboard mixes have been re-mastered by Fred Kevorkian for this release. These will no doubt sound much better than the old Maxell XLII audio tapes you used to rock in your Walkman 18 years ago.
The set will feature a total 43 songs including material from sound checks. As many Phish fans know, despite its relatively small size the UIC Pavilion is one of the groups favorite places to perform and has hosted many legendary gigs over the years.

‘Multitrack’ generally refers to more than 2 tracks. Stereo soundboards are a fine source, but to call them ‘multitrack recordings’ is misleading.
