This album is very interesting, but at this point I'd say that those five stars you gave it are a bit too much. I trust your opinion, though, and respect your music taste enough to give it few more spins.

Just read this review after reading and commenting on the RXbandits Mandala. While I agree with your take on their ever-evolving sound and experimental approach, I've always enjoyed the energy Portugal. The Man delivers. With each album they change, in ways for the better, but I seem to miss the energy of prior albums with each release. I find this album to be 'chill' with an excellent new approach, but I urge all of you newbies to check out their prior work without expecting to hear the same sound. With all that said, groundbreaking album by another one of my favorite bands

[...] Meanwhile, Portugal. The Man delivered the blistering performance we predicted they would, ripping through live staple Church Mouth before a psychedelic segue into a gorgeous cover of Three Dog Night’s One. Multi-instrumentalist Ryan Neighbors provided otherworldly soundscapes to counter John Gourley’s eager tenor as he led the band through a set that spanned the band’s career. One noteworthy highlight was the crowd singalong during the “It’ll be alright…” section of People Say from this year’s nearly-flawless The Satanic Satanist.
If any of you like psychedelic rock n roll with good song writing check out our album I Want To Talk To God. You can download it for free at http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zadnl2tyod1 this is not your typical modern rock music. This will make you feel. Give it a quick listen at www.myspace.com/stealtheprize
Love you all.
