So I'm glad to have heard the new album finally. Gave it a shot about two weeks ago, and though I agree with the review for the most part, I do believe it's progress. I've been a Metalli-fuck since back in the day (85) and I'd have to say this album is a return to something normal at least. Sounds a lot like And Justice in areas for sure. They couldn't avoid some of the gay shit they had to throw in there I guess (residual from St. Anger and the Load albums must be). Hetfield doesn't have the vocal he once had, sad to say, but the music rocks and the bass kicks ass.

The last album I really enjoyed was Black Album, couldn't stand anything after that, and after logging in to Napster one day and "You have been banned by Metallica" bullshit. I bought all their albums in the past and we used cassette back then. I wore out their albums so many times from listening to it so much that I'm entitled to a lifetime supply of Metallica, give me a break.

As for Megadeth's new stuff...? Haven't really given it much of a chance since their last truly good stuff was around Cryptic Writings. It got seriously gay after that to me. Too light and pussy weight to even call metal, like Metallica did after the Black Album. Maybe I just gave up on them? Need to blow the dust off and give some of their newer stuff a listen with a barf bag just in case.

Also love bands like Pantera, but they seemingly opened up a dimensional rift to Cookie Monster music that I simply CANNOT STAND. The music is killer, shredding riffs and poly-rythmic percussion, but once you hear the vocalist you just want to curl up in your shower naked on the floor in fetal position hoping to cleanse your soul somehow.

I've heard two of the tracks... Not impressed at all. Megadeth's new stuff slays it. And with bands like Sikth, meshuggah, Opeth, and Dillenger around who the hell cares??

I'm not a fan of Metallica and after listening to the ten long tracks on Death Magnetic still won't be.
The songs nearly all sound the same. Most of the lyrics are "sung" in such a manner that you cannot decipher them.
The guitarists should probably learn a few more chords before recording anything again.
Utter drivel.
