News: Nine Inch Nails
Hype Check: Nine Inch Nails to Tour This Year With Adrian Belew?
This year is leading up to be a busy one for Trent Reznor. With the release of the debut LP from his band How to Destroy Angels confirmed for March, the group is also set to make their live debut at this year’s Coachella festival, with more touring sure to follow. But fans will likely remember that, back in November 2012, Mr. Reznor announced that he would begin rehearsals for two bands soon enough. And thanks to a bit of new information arriving today, that other band could very well be Nine Inch Nails. Finally.
The NIN Hotline has uncovered a story on Create Digital Music, which reports on several guitarists’ products available at this year’s NAMM showcase. At one point, it reads: “Adrian Belew, who was scoping out TriplePlay, seemed tickled pink by the recent news that he’ll tour this year as Nine Inch Nails’ guitarist.” For those unaware, Adrian Belew has collaborated with NIN on a number of occasions before – namely, on the records The Downward Spiral, The Fragile, and Ghosts I-IV. If the report sounds a bit dubious, hear Adrian Belew himself state that “a secret thing” will happen later this year:
Digging a bit deeper, one will recall that Trent Reznor announced that a remastered deluxe edition of The Fragile is “finally” coming into fruition. If one were to expect the reissue of said album later this year, around the same time that NIN supposedly go on tour with Adrian Belew (something they never did in the past), assumptions become rather easy to make.
However things turn out later this year, Trent Reznor will surely focus on promoting How to Destroy Angels for the time being. Until more news becomes available, check out Belew doing his thing with NIN during the recording of Ghosts I-IV:

While this is awesome news, and I’m sure Adrian is incredibly talented, something about having a guitarist with the hairstyle of George Costanza ripping through NIN tracks on stage is a little perplexing.
Does this mean no Robin Finck?
Hopefully he’ll just play second fiddle to Robin.
Trent might be the face/nucleus of NIN, but Robin will always be NIN’s axeman to me.
At least he isn’t Guns N’ Roses’ axeman anymore.
Maybe you should find out who Adrian Belew IS before commenting…He IS, in fact, “quite talented.” And, quite famous.
Calling Adrian Belew “incredibly talented” is an understatement. He has a resume that most musicians can only fantasize about, and Trent Reznor called him something along the lines of “the most amazing musician on the planet” a few years back
While I agree with Eric’s sentiment wholeheartedly. I do feel obligated to point this out -> http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lgdt7rMTov1qa8jbeo1_400.jpg
Trent has said before that he won’t be doing the classic NIN live show (ie 4-5 guys in rock format) anymore… I have a suspicion that the next incarnation of NIN live will be radically different. I don’t really see Adrian Belew covered in corn starch ripping through Terrible Lie…
