News:  Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin Teases ‘Five,’ Jimmy Page’s Manager Suggests O2 Show Release

By Steven Anthony

Led Zeppelin updated their Facebook page on Saturday morning with a peculiar image…

The image certainly seems to point to a potential Led Zeppelin V record, and the rumors are hitting levels of hysteria, but a new album release is certainly not likely.

Frontman Robert Plant has repeatedly ruled out a full-scale Led Zeppelin reunion, even telling Rolling Stone last year, “I’ve gone so far somewhere else that I almost can’t relate to it…It’s a bit of a pain in the pisser to be honest. Who cares? I know people care, but think about it from my angle – soon, I’m going to need help crossing the street.”

9/9 Update: With the following posting on Zep’s FB page Sunday morning, as well as some revealing tweets from Jimmy Page’s manager, new album hopes are right out the window:

In other words, the chances are very strong that the internet has been collectively trolled/cockteased by those who clearly wanted to stir hysterical excitement at the idea of a new album. Those dirty bitches. What we’re getting instead is, very likely, a release of the band’s O2 Arena concert, which has long been rumored to be featured in an upcoming DVD release and took place five years ago.

Here’s evidence – Jimmy Page’s manager Peter Mensch delivered the strongest hint yet two months ago:

That is, the strongest hint until yesterday afternoon:

So there it is. If you’re still down with the speculation sickness, head on over to the Zeppelin Facebook page to read through the massive stream of rumors.

My god… it’s full of stars.

Its been 5 years since the o2 show, its probably getting released

What a stupid cocktease. They knew everyone was going to jump to the “new record” conclusion.

  4. If this really had anything to do with some kind of new studio effort I have to believe they would have used ‘V’ and not ‘Five’.

How would it have been Led Zeppelin V anyway? That makes no sense at all, they released 5 albums after Led Zeppelin IV. If they made a new album, which they won’t, and numbered it, it would be Led Zeppelin X (10). Duh.

  6. If you actually jumped to the conclusion that a new album was in the works, then fuck: you deserve your disappointment. I’m pretty excited at the prospect of the DVD. They were sounding good.
