News:  Le Butcherettes, Omar Rodríguez-López

Omar Rodríguez-López and Teri Gender Bender Team Up for Octopus Kool Aid

By Skwerl

The Mars Volta’s Omar Rodríguez-López makes albums like you make errors in judgment. Every time I see a new one, I just know there were 5 between it and the last one I’d heard about, a few weeks ago. The prolific output of course comes from a painful inability to self-edit, but we can’t fault a musician for making the shit out of some music.

We are mentioning his latest, Octopus Kool Aid, because we know some of you guys are weird, and because Teri Gender Bender of Le Butcherettes sings throughout it. And we dig her.

You can listen to, and/or acquire the whole thing here on Bandcamp.

Also, I’m pretty sure Octopus Kool Aid is a real thing in China, and it tastes like shit.

“Prolific” implies that the output is actually good

Cryptomnesia was pretty dang good, and maybe one other one, but yeah, Omar is way too self-indulgent when he’s allowed to do his own thing, by himself.
