Listen as Crystal Castles Return with ‘Plague’
The mad and masterful Toronto outfit Crystal Castles will be releasing their third full-length album this September. The duo’s macabre, electronic sounds overflow with dread and terror, yet they are startlingly danceable, even curative. Their latest effort, an ominous track aptly titled Plague is no different. Listen to it below:
Crystal Castles recorded their latest, as-of-yet untitled album in the historic city of Warsaw, faraway from their familiar Toronto habitat. The distance may have benefited the band immensely. They pride themselves on discomposure, and so many great works of music have often been a result of such disconnection.
Plague demonstrates the band’s mastery of noise and melancholy. Harrowed and exposed, Alice Glass shrieks her heart out while Ethan Kath veils her in sound. Behind all that commotion, there is a cool affirmation of the duo’s sonic virtuosity, and it isn’t wavering one bit.
