Two Unheard Layne Staley Songs Set For ‘Grassroots’ Film
Two previously unheard Layne Staley recordings will make their debut in a new film about a pair of Seattle journalists.
Grassroots is an upcoming movie starring Jason Biggs and Joel David Moore (the guy from Grandma’s Boy and Avatar) as two journalists in the Pacific Northwest who cause a ruckus in their local political scene. The flick was based on the book Zioncheck for President: A True Story of Idealism and Madness in American Politics.
Loudwire notes that it is currently unclear whether the two songs were originally recorded before Staley’s time in Alice in Chains, or during the four years between his departure from AIC and his death in 2002.
It looks like we’ll just have to wait and see when the movie screens to audiences later this month. Check out all that info at the film’s official site.

shit! they guy from derrick comedy is in there! I didn’t think he was up to anything. It’s nice to see that Glover wasn’t the only guy to hit it big from that
Layne Staley was such a true talent. I wish there was more unheard material from him.
Looking forward to hearing these tunes
