Dave Matthews Band Pays Tribute to Adam Yauch at New York Show

By Reverend Justito

In the weeks since the death of Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch, everyone from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Shepard Fairey has paid tribute to the late rapper. Last night in the greater New York metropolitan area it was the Dave Matthews Band’s turn to pay their respects.

In the segue between their 90’s radio hits So Much To Say and Ants Marching, Matthews and crew threw down a few bars from the Beasties hit Brass Monkey. No matter your opinion on DMB, their take on the 1986 classic sounds as large as Yauch’s life, especially the saxophone work from Jeff Coffin. You can check out fan filmed footage of the jam down below.

Dave Matthews Band and Beastie Boys shared the festival stage a few times, most notably in 1998 at the Tibetan Freedom Concert in Washington D.C.
