Chris Cornell Makes a Fan’s Day With ‘Outshined’ Duet

By Fernando Scoczynski Filho

At Chris Cornell‘s solo gig last week in Newcastle, a once-in-a-lifetime event happened for a very lucky crowd member, fulling the all-too-common fantasy of playing onstage with your idol.

According to GrungeReport, a fan named Ben Dawson took the opportunity of a silence in-between songs and asked, rather plainly: “Can I play a song with you?” Cornell had a moment of hesitation, where he questioned whether or not the fan could pull it off, then asked him what song he wanted to play, receiving “Outshined” as an answer. Seemingly lacking any sort of anxiety, Ben Dawson went up to the stage and played the song pretty damn well. Watch the performance below (the first video contains just the song, while the second shows the request to go onstage, and the aftermath):

“What fucking amazing surprise that was,” Cornell remarked afterwards, before adding, “he’s gonna get laid.”

Saw him do the almost same exact thing at a show at The Roxy a couple years ago. Same song too if I recall.
