News:  The Hives

Josh Homme Joins The Hives For ‘Insane’ and ‘High School Shuffle’

By Johnny Firecloud

Well here’s some excellent icing on a cake of bombastic excellence: The Hives are on the edge of  release their first album in almost five years, and the deluxe edition of Lex Hives will come with some bonus tracks produced and recorded by Queens of The Stone Age centerpiece Josh Homme.

The Hives headed to Homme’s Pink Duck studio in the San Fernando Valley for some last-minute vocals recording, and Homme lent a bit of his own touch to the moment. Listen over at Rolling Stone.

Here’s another Homme-aided bonus track called High School Shuffle, and it’s got a very youthful school’s-out kind of vibe. This one’s a champ – thanks to RCRDLBL.com for this one:

“Basically if you have the best of American rock and the best of European rock in a room together, you owe it to the cosmos to make some music happen,” says Hives frontman Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist. “Being fans of Queens Of The Stone Age and Kyuss and Eagles Of Death Metal and so forth, we basically just wanted to talk about the Misfits with our friend and steal his recording tricks!”

Lex Hives, the Hives’ fifth full-length album, will be released June 5th on the band’s own label, Disques Hives. Support independence. Buy their record here.
