News:  Neil Young, Thom Yorke

Thom Yorke Explores Neil Young’s Influence and Artistry

By Fernando Scoczynski Filho

Back in 2008, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke was interviewed for the purpose of appearing on Don’t Be Denied, a BBC documentary on Neil Young‘s career. Unfortunately, the footage was not used on the doc, and remained unseen for years (with the exception of a short clip). Recently, however, all 30 minutes of Yorke’s interview have been retrieved, with no cuts, and posted to YouTube.

The video was obtained by Michael Weber (founder of Radiohead fansite Citizeninsane.eu), who received it from Mark Cooper, creative head at BBC Music Entertainment and responsible for conducting the interview. The candid interview includes, among several topics, Yorke’s extensive comments on his favorite Young albums, the annual Bridge School Benefit, and how he personally asked for permission to perform After The Gold Rush. For fans of either artist, it’s certainly worth seeing:

Thom Yorke’s most recent performance of After The Gold Rush happened last weekend, during Radiohead’s Coachella set (at 1:34:00 in the video).

As for Neil Young, he is set to release Americana on June 5th, his first album with Crazy Horse in 9 years.
