I love love.

I am a particular fan of the physical kind and lets face it, candy makes me fat and flowers make me sneeze. So… for Valentine’s Day, Antiquiet asked me to tell you about few songs that I think will get you & your honey’s motor running. Yeah, I said “motor running”…but of course what I mean is that hopefully these songs will help you both get laid. Well.

Learn this first: Prince knows sexy. Crazy antics and weird born-again-ness aside… he’s funky, sexy little motha.

Prince, Cream

“You’re filthy-cute and baby you know it…”  Ok, if you haven’t figured out that combining the Madonna-whore dichotomy in a compliment for your woman is a sure way warm up a situation, then take note now, my lovelies. The Purple One doesn’t lie about sex.

Of course maybe another type of Prince song is more your speed:

For all your dramatic, slow love makin’, bump-n-grind needs.

This next one is maybe not-so obvious:

Lou Reed, Perfect Day

Quite possibly a perfect romantic song. Bowie production makes it achingly beautiful and Lou adds that bit of NY darkness. OK, perfect for me maybe.

8mm, Crawl

…people often tell me that they have sex to our music, which we love. For me, Crawl is the one. Sean’s solo here works for me… OK, most of what he does works for me.

David Bowie, China Girl

OK, he could be reading a grocery list in this song and it’s still so good. I’m gonna steal a phrase from my friend Victoria Pratt here and say, that Bowie’s vocal delivery in this song “makes me wanna sit on his chest while he reads the phone book.”

I’ll just let you think about that one for a minute….

I’m a huge Queen fan, but picked the NIN version cuz it just has a that grinding sexual edge to it. You know it does.

Adam Ant, Strip

What is sexier than a rock-n-roll pirate? Nothing, I tell you. Nothing.

Bruce Springsteen, I’m On Fire

“Hey little girl is your daddy home
did he go and leave you all alone..
I got a bad desire…”

Ahem, I’m listening Mr. Springsteen… and I don’t even go in for the Daddy-thing… but damn. Whether you love him or hate him, you have to concede that this song has some of the sexiest lyrics. We (8mm) actually cover this one live sometimes. Trust me, it stirs a crowd.

Sade, Your Love Is King

…OK, let’s be honest, just about anything by Sade makes you feel like you should be having sex RIGHT NOW.

The Cure, Close To Me

Get your bashful-gothy-cute sex on… you know you wanna.

Chris Isaak, Wicked Games

Chris Isaak is sort of the male equivalent of Sade… I’d say take your pick but this particular song make clothes just slide right off. It really does. It is a fact. You can’t fight it, so don’t try.

Led Zeppelin, Black Dog & Whole Lotta Love

“Hey hey momma said the way you move
gonna make you sweat
gonna make you groove…”

So maybe not the slow jams you’d think I’d be pulling out but the bravado Robert Plant throws down in that line just gets you thinking about how that’s gonna go exactly. Combine that with the dirtiness of Jimmy Page’s playing and you’ve got damn sexy. Damn sexy.

The Black Keys, Everlasting Light

Yeah, this song is just hot.

INXS, Need You Tonight

Michael Hutchins knew how to man-purr lyrics in a way that makes a girl’s back teeth sweat.
