News: The Mars Volta
Listen To The Mars Volta’s New Single ‘The Malkin Jewel’
The Mars Volta are returning to our ears with Noctourniquet, their sixth album, on March 27. We brought you the cover art and tracklist for the record, and now we’ve got quite an intriguing new song for the hearing.
Listen to a The Malkin Jewel below:
By the sound of things, we’ll certainly have a strange beast on our hands when Noctourniquet arrives. Rather than the hyper-kaleidoscopic Latin math-funk explosions we’re used to, on Malkin a seething dream unfolds over squelching, drunken-swagger guitars. The finished album can’t come soon enough.
Noctourniquet was performed by The Mars Volta lineup of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Juan Alderete de la Pena, Marcel Rodriguez Lopez, and Deantoni Parks.
Pre-order Noctourniquet at the band’s official site, and try not to scream for the new songs when At The Drive-In kicks back into gear at Coachella this year.

This band is so damn underrated, they have a unique sound.
Sounds excellent!
Cedrics voice is really high in the mix. And the music doesn’t sound as intensely full as it usually does. After seeing them at Coachella last year, I’m really jacked about the new songs. That was a mindblowing set.
i’m diggin’ the groove on this.
Where is the vinyl pre-order?!
hell of a first single! can’t wait for this shit, and yeah Im right with you about the preorder…. where is that shit?
Cedric’s vocals make it sound very Mechanical Animals. Really cool song.
Absolutely in love with this song, surprised to see a lot of dislike to it. This is what I want from Volta. This could be one of my favorite songs off the album.
Sounds like a flop record coming.
Looking at the band photo, I had no clue that Clay from Sons of Anarchy was in The Mars Volta
