Fiona Apple: New Music Coming (Very) Soon
By Johnny Firecloud
Tuesday, January 24, 2012
We’ve been waiting for more than half a decade, and now it seems as if perpetually relationship-challenged and inimitably awesome singer-songwriter Fiona Apple will finally be releasing new music in the very near future.
Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid posted to Twitter on Sunday (Jan. 22), informing fans that her return was indeed coming soon.
“Lot’s of good music coming from @Epic_Records in the next few weeks. Stay tuned music fans. Welcome back Fiona! #BeEpic,” he wrote, later tweeting “YES Fiona Apple!” to clarify.
Apple’s follow-up to 2005’s Extraordinary Machine has been reportedly finished for more than a year, with release originally expected for spring 2011. At a concert at Largo in Los Angeles late last year, Apple reportedly told the crowd that she couldn’t remember how to play any of her new songs because “they’ve been done for a fucking year.” A member of her band then chimed in, “Not her fault!” – indicating, perhaps, that external forces have kept the music from seeing the light of release.
Epic Records finally appears to be getting their shit together, however, and the gears are evidently turning. We will definitely keep you posted on updates.

This makes me want to cut my ears off. Antiquiet is a bastion of good music but this is shit. She should try singing her songs whilst gargling semen, at least we would have something to smile about.
This makes me want to cum — and I’ll be sure to do so in Alex’s ear-holes so he doesn’t have to bitch about it anymore.
Alex gets one more trolly bullshit comment, then we’ll be saying goodbye.
I’m not trolling, I love the site and your write ups but I genuinely think this stuff is shit. You put a public comment section on your pages and you got to expect good and bad feedback on the stuff you cover.
Don’t take it so personal.
i think coz’ zinger evened the score. and i think that’s the same alex that tipped us off to teri gender bender’s boobs the other day. let’s see if he keeps it up after v6 launch, which will allow him to just block any bands he doesn’t like, rather than bitch and moan like a fairy.
Give me a chance to do a write up. Let me write up a draft on one of the hottest tickets around, let me contribute. If you don’t like the band I cover and what I write then trash it, no problem.
Cmon put him in coach, HE”S READY.
Do it. I dare you
PS. Ive been waiting on a full length One Day as a Lion for 3+ Years now…EP was hot, wtf
i’d be for it, but johnny obviously hates all of your consistently worthless/negative comments, and those decisions go to him. so… yeah. good luck with that one.
also, not for nothing soupy sales, but anyone who seriously uses the phrase “hottest ticket around” is not allowed to write for antiquiet.
That was a cheap soundbite I’ll admit but …. Yes I was saying, time is rather short my side as I’m preparing for a long vacation in Canada, seal clubbing but when I get back I’ll moonwalk my quill over the parchment and see what comes out.
I should do a review of the new Fiona Apple record when it comes out, I bet I could destroy it in 5 words.
Hot dog, I’ve been waiting for news of a Fiona Apple release for a BILLION years.
The “member of the band” in question was actually the great Jon Brion, so he would definitely know. Exciting stuff.
DOWN WITH ADELE!
About time!!! Lets hear it!
Like this site. Disagree with most album ratings. LOG, Black Keys, yada yada IMO are bad examples to rock music.
But hey, that doesnt stop me from reading and visiting.
At least we arent reviewing stuff like Fiona Apple. Oh, wait…
hey, everyone disagrees at some point. but as far as ‘rock’ news/reviews websites go, i havent found a better one. in 2 years.
