News: Van Halen
Van Halen Reunion: First Single In 2 Weeks, Album In February
In news that surprised absolutely no one, Van Halen have just officially announced that they’re getting back together with original singer David Lee Roth for a reunion tour in 2012.
Having last reunited in 2007 and performed through 2008, the lineup of David Lee Roth on vocals, founders Eddie Van Halen on guitar and Alex Van Halen on drums, as well as Eddie’s son Wolfgang Van Halen on bass, have been rumored to reunite for months now. Perhaps because of the Black Sabbath reunion, the official announcement was put on hold until now. Watch the tacky announcement trailer for the reunion tour below, and notice how the editing doesn’t make the slightest attempt to match up the music to the visuals:
There are no tour dates announced as of yet, but, according to fan site Van Halen News Desk, further details of the tour will be announced on January 3rd.
Also according to the fan site, the band’s upcoming studio album (their first since 1998′s Van Halen III, and first with Lee Roth on vocals since 1983′s 1984) will be released on February 7th, with its first single and official video coming out on January 10th, when tickets for the tour start to go on sale.
Last month, producer Ross Hogarth told Ultimate Guitar that the recording process was done, with the mixing already underway. However, according to former Lee Roth-replacement vocalist Sammy Hagar in an interview with Rolling Stone, the new album could be comprised of ”old outtakes from the old days.” Either way, it won’t have Sammy Hagar on it, so we’ll take our chances.

Theres a reason Van Halen never hit over here in England, they were shit.
First album was ok I guess.
please tell us more mr stupid..
They didn’t get good until Gary Cherone joined the band.
More? How about they were cheesier than a blue stilton. Van Halen were a joke.
And you didn’t get it :-)
Yes I got it but it wasn’t funny. They are a Spinal Tap without the jokes.
Also notice in the video that if you blink you’ll miss Wolfie.
ummmm, yeah…like EVH’s guitar playing didn’t Influence anyone…like AVH isn’t an absolutely Fantastic drummer…like MA’s high-end vocal back-ups weren’t absolutely Signature…like DLR, & SH (&, for purpose of timeline, GC) didn’t provide Albums (ie Plural) worth of finely crafted rock songs…I get that this is an open forum & I get a kick out of seeing the posts that seem to be the promulgating of basic ignorance.
