News: The Black Keys
The Black Keys Rock SNL, Announce US Arena Tour
Continuing their path towards year-end musical domination, The Black Keys performed two songs on Saturday Night Live last night. This marks the band’s second appearance on the show in under a year, now time promoting the release of the fantastic El Camino.
Unlike the last time around, SNL’s sound guy actually did an ok job, even if the mix still sounded less-than-optimal, slightly favoring the bass over Dan Auerbach’s guitar in the mix for Lonely Boy. But still, it’s well damn worth watching – the two songs performed can be found below:

With El Camino dropping this Tuesday, The Black Keys will perform on KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas next Sunday. Later, they will embark on a tour across Europe next year, followed by an US arena tour in March, accompanied by none other than Arctic Monkeys as the opening act. The following dates have been announced so far:
March 2 – Cincinnati, OH @ U.S. Bank Arena
March 3 – Detroit, MI @ Joe Louis Arena
March 4 – Columbus, OH @ Jerome Schottenstein Center
March 6 – Portland, ME @ Cumberland Co. Civic Center
March 7 – Boston, MA @ TD Garden
March 9 – Washington, DC @ Verizon Center
March 10 – Philadelphia, PA @ Wells Fargo Center
March 12 – New York, NY @ Madison Square Garden
March 13 – Montreal, QC @ Bell Centre
March 14 – Toronto, ON @ Air Canada Centre
March 16 – Indianapolis, IN @ Conesco Fieldhouse
March 18 – Grand Rapids, MI @ Van Andel Arena
March 19 – Chicago, IL @ United Center
March 20 – Cleveland, OH @ Quicken Loans Arena
March 23 – Norfolk, VA @ Constant Convocation Center
Meanwhile, Arctic Monkeys are set to release their Don Valley Bowl live DVD sometime next year, filmed at their tour following the release of Suck It And See.

I loved this performance. Studio 8H (the SNL studio) is basically a huge block of concerete with zero accommodation for anything musical, so for The Black Keys to sound so good in a setting like that just goes to show what a great band they truly are.
Pre-sale starts tomorrow @ 10EST (I think) for everyone subscribed to the band’s mailing list! Psyched to see these guys in Grand Rapids.
