Re:Mix Labs Invades LA With Badu, Yeasayer, DJ Premier, Skrillex & More
Re:Mix Labs is powering its way through a week’s worth of kickass events in downtown Los Angeles, the final stop for the Hyundai Veloster-sponsored multimedia event, which started at CMJ in NYC and made its way through Miami, Chicago and Las Vegas before heading to the coast.
Tuesday’s Grand Opening Reception (presented by ANTENNA) in downtown Los Angeles featured sets from Yeasayer, Anna Lunoe, Caught a Ghost, Them Jeans and College, among others in a festive night heavy on indie rock. Wednesday stepped up the heat at the RE:Generation event with blazing between-set tablework from DJ Premier, while hundreds of VIPs in attendance cozied up to the open bar and checked out interactive displays that mixed fashion, technology and, of course, tricked-out Hyundai Velosters.
Spin sessions from soul queen Erykah Badu (shouts to the Stevie Wonder in the mix) and legendary club conquerers The Crystal Method unfolded throughout the night, before Skrillex then took the stage, and one of the biggest DJs on the planet made his case for the hype with a dub-laden set of throb-bangers. Most noteworthy: his live remix of La Roux’s In For The Kill.
Thursday night, the streets of downtown Los Angeles lit up along Main Street to host a collection of art galleries for Art Walk LA, a gorgeous intermission between performances and Re:Mix Labs events scheduled through Sunday. There’s still a weekend full of events to take part in, from DJ lessons to a Rocksmith Concert with Boxer Rebellion & more, to TED talks to Underground Rebel Bingo and beyond!
Yes, we’ve been paid to tell you this. Check the full schedule here, and make sure to RSVP – admittance is free, but only on the guest list!!
