News:  Mastodon

Mastodon & Feist To Cover Each Other For Split 7-inch

By Reverend Justito

With Record Store Day – Black Friday Edition now in the rear view (read our thoughts on the experience), music snobs are already foaming at the mouth in anticipation of Record Store Day 2012. While a complete list of vinyl goodies won’t be available for a few months, Mastodon bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders recently revealed to MTV News Canada that plans are in the work for his group to release a limited edition split 7 inch with a very unlikely artist.

Sanders shares “…the idea is for Mastodon to cover a Feist song and throw some hair and dirt on it and they’re going to take a Mastodon song and pretty it up a little bit.” Sanders goes on to discuss how each group has limited time to complete their respective covers in order for the record to hit shelves on the third Saturday in April.

Mastodon will kick off 2012 with a brief tour of Europe before heading to Australia to take part in the 6th annual Soundwave Festival. Feist will kick off her 2012 touring plans with a trip to Australia before heading over to Europe. Both artists are touring behind full length albums released in 2011.

  1. Already sounds more exciting than Lulu.

  2. [...] the group has set an unusual release for Record Store Day 2012: a split single with Feist. Look for it on April 21. [...]
