News:  The Black Keys

Listen To The Black Keys’ NPR Radio Session

By Fernando Scoczynski Filho

Enjoying the great commercial and critical success brought by their latest album El Camino, The Black Keys were recently featured on NPR’s World Cafe radio show, performing a few songs and speaking about the just-released record.

During the interview, the duo got into more detail on the recording process of El Camino, how they actually made it weeks ahead of schedule, even though they ”didn’t really have any plan” for it. They also shed some light on Danger Mouse’s production role on the album, the importance of having their songs on the radio, and the complexity of playing the new material live. The group performed three songs, which were interspersed by the interview bits: Sister (at the 3:50 mark); Lonely Boy (at the 9:30 mark); and Gold On The Ceiling (at the 19:00 mark). A bonus performance of Run Right Back can also be heard here.

Does NPR pay their musical guests?

Of course not. So why are the BK’s involved if it aint about the benjamins. And yes, an arena tour is exactly what I expected with this cash grab band.
