News: Red Hot Chili Peppers
Watch Red Hot Chili Peppers Take On Jools Holland
It’s a nice break of pace to post music performance videos from a source other than late-night American talk shows. Such is the case now, as Tuesday’s episode of British show Later… With Jools Holland contained a couple of great jams from Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Having released the surprisingly solid comeback LP I’m With You in August, the band performed its first single The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie, as well as album-opener Monarchy of Roses. Both can be seen below:

On the latest episode of Later, also featured was a noteworthy performance from Noel Gallagher (followed by an interview), and Björk doing what she does best these days – weirding people out.
Red Hot Chili Peppers start the European leg of their tour in December.

I’ve been a fan of the Peppers since the late 80′s, but I just can’t get into this new stuff.
guess they’re not that ‘red hot’ any more…. BSSM is where it’s at & nobody can deny that… it’s all downhill from there…
Once they got off drugs…
I think BSSM was good but way overrated. Since then I think they are terrible. I saw them in the mid 80′s and they were great. Now…its old hat. Their music is flaccid and a parody of what it once was.
SAD
I hate the new material and saw them on the UK tour for this album. The lead guitar is totally absent and the performance somewhat reserved. The Jools performance wasn’t anything special but Bjorks choir of bush sure made up for it and gave me something to whack myself off to.
RHCP are just phoning it in. Check out the 1985 performance at the Rockpalast and tell me this is the same band.
I dont understand why alot of people expect bands to stay the same. We all must always remember that those bands go on tours and play those same songs hundreds and hundreds of times, night after night. Doing that will take it’s toll on anyone. It’ll make u want to try out other things and progress.
Just think about it, BSSM was released 20 (!!) years ago! Think how much people change in 20 years.
Musicians are not machines. Cant stay the same forever.
As a listener, you can sometimes try to open your mind and grow and progress along with the artist.
Assuming that what they are doing is any good. Nobody here wants music to stay the same but the point RHCP fans are making is that this newer material doesn’t have the same level of excitement, honesty or fizz as the old band. The live tour is flat.
Pearl Jam is a good example of a band that still love what they do and show it.
dude totally check out the rockpalast you guys suck
The RHCP are great, they have adapted, changed and altered themseleves and their music over the decades and are still here today! they have evolved and still attract audiences who love to hear them play, the hippie undertones are blended with more rocky overtones and the songs are catchy, let’s give these guys a break as the music world would be a much duller place without them, as for Bjork wondering around like a muttering dearranged mental patient please! somebody get the clippers out that sheep needs shearing!
so you checked out the rockpalast i guess?
