News: Fleet Foxes
Watch Fleet Foxes’ Stunning ‘The Shrine / An Argument’ Video
We admit to having missed the boat on this story a few days ago, but it’s still damn worth posting. Fleet Foxes recently released a video for the song The Shrine / An Argument, off their second LP Helplessness Blues, and it’s easily one of the best we’ve seen this year.
The Shrine / An Argument was directed by Sean Pecknold, frontman Robin Pecknold’s brother. The lead singer tweeted excitedly: “Being able to give my bro the means and time to make amazing stuff is one of the top two things about doing music in this way. So proud!” The sinister video plays out like an old, stained animation with paper-cut characters, and demonstrates a level of attention to detail that’s just not seen very often these days. Not only that, but the story contained within is unusually engrossing, and fits the song’s 8-minutes very fluidly. Watch it below - preferably on fullscreen and with headphones, as per the author’s recommendation:
Fleet Foxes’ Helplessness Blues can be picked up here. The band is currently on tour across Europe, and will hit Australia later this month.

This is pretty beautiful. Like The Decemberists’ video for The Tain meets Hayao Miyazaki.
