Eddie Vedder Celebrates ‘Little Steven’s Underground Garage’

By Fernando Scoczynski Filho

While Steven Van Zandt, aka Little Steven, may be mainly known as the guitarist for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band (and for his character on The Sopranos), he also hosts a pretty popular – and tremendously enlightening – weekly radio show called Little Steven’s Underground Garage. The show allows Steven to play classics, rarities and noteworthy gems that generally don’t get airplay, a stark departure from the ubiquitous homogeny of today’s radio dial.

In play since 2002, Little Steven’s Underground Garage recently reached its 500th episode. In a show of congratulations, Eddie Vedder took the time to thank Steven for his efforts, and showed off how much of a dedicated listener he is.

In the video below, Vedder explains that he met Steven around 2004 and expressed his admiration for the radio show. Since the Pearl Jam singer spent so much time on the road, not always able to catch the broadcasts, the host started mailing discs containing every broadcast. Vedder takes the chance to demonstrate his appreciation for Steven’s nice gesture, showing off how organized he kept his collection. For added effect, turn up the volume when that disc container hits the table:

Little Steven’s Underground Garage 500th show can be listened to here.

Meanwhile, Pearl Jam are currently rocking their commemorative PJ20 tour across South America.

It’s really cool to see something like this. He’s pretty organized for being on the road so much HAHA
