Watch Mastodon, Bon Iver, And Feist Perform On Jools Holland’s Show
Since 1992, British musician and late-show host Jools Holland has been offering viewers an excellent medium for discovering and appreciating new music on a constant late-night basis with Later… with Jools Holland. Every week a rotating number of musicians are invited on to the show to simply do what they do best: perform. This week was no exception as some of 2011’s most outstanding artists stopped by and provided the show with some very memorable performances.
Indie icon Bon Iver, whose recent self-titled record is among Antiquiet’s favorites, performed a stunning and passionate rendition of Towers; while Canadian artist Feist (who only just released her new album Metals) performed The Bad In Each Other and How Come You Never Go There from the aforementioned album.
The most surprising of all guests this week was Mastodon, the second metal band to ever perform on the show. It is fair to say that their new record The Hunter is so good that it surely would have been a great loss for both Holland and the audience had they not been invited to perform. With an exceptional performance of Black Tongue, the Atlanta-based rockers demonstrated exactly why they and Metallica have been the show’s only heavy metal patrons: there’s no one better.
