News:  The Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips Set iPad Steve Jobs Tribute

By Fernando Scoczynski Filho

It’s common knowledge that The Flaming Lips love doing weird shit. However, the group just announced that they’re doing something a bit less extravagant – for their standards, anyway.

As Huffington Post reports, the band will perform at the O Music Awards, covering The Beatles’ Revolution as a tribute to the late Apple founder, Steve Jobs. Of course, the performance will be appropriately recorded with an Apple device – in this case, an iPad. The event, which ”celebrates the artists, innovators and fans impacting digital music culture,” will be broadcast on October 31 at 8:30pm PDT, and The Flaming Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne is a running contender for its “Digital Genius” award.

Just in case you worried that The Flaming Lips band were giving up on the crazy stuff, they’ll soon release a 24-hour long song inside a human skull. So there.
