News:  Rocket Juice And The Moon

Damon Albarn, Flea Name New Project ‘Rocket Juice And The Moon’

By Fernando Scoczynski Filho

As if Damon Albarn didn’t have enough on his hands already, what with DRC Music, a possible solo album, and drinking with Noel Gallagher, the Blur/Gorillaz frontman recently announced yet another release.

According to Pitchfork‘s report, Albarn has been working for a couple of years with Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, as well as Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen, on an album of mostly instrumental songs. The project was given the very weird title of “Rocketjuice and the Moon”. Albarn explains the origin of the name: ”Someone in Lagos did the sleeve design and that’s the name he gave it, which suits me because trying to find a name for another band is always tricky.”

Rocketjuice and the Moon will see their live debut this weekend, in London, at the Honest Jon’s Chop Up! event.

In other news, Damon Albarn and Tony Allen will also resurrect side-project The Good, The Bad, & The Queen, at an event for Greepeace on November 10, also in London.
