Record Store Day Sets Black Friday Releases
What, you thought Record Store Day only came around once a year? Well, you’re only partially right. This year’s Black Friday (Nov. 25) will see a barrage of releases from independent music retailers, with special edition and first-time vinyl and CD releases hitting shelves from an impressive lineup of musicians.
Over three dozen limited-edition releases are planned for the event, including The Black Keys, Soundgarden, The Beatles, Nirvana, Tom Petty, The Doors and many more.
“This is a terrific street date of great releases that can only be found at real live record stores. Yes, these pieces are limited, and indeed, some may sell out, and of course, the stores won’t all stock every piece,” reads the website. “Mostly, our goal is to remind folks that locally owned, independent record stores, like those that are listed on the site, are a GREAT place to celebrate the holidays, do a little gift-shopping (for yourself or others), support your community, and maybe pick up something really special. And really, that applies all year-round.”

The Black Keys will release their new single, “Lonely Boy”, on 12?vinyl.
Red Hot Chili Peppers’ album Blood Sugar Sex Magik will be reissued on a double 12?red vinyl. The set is limited to 5,170 copies in the U.S.
Soundgarden will release an EP titled Live on I-5: Before The Doors Soundcheck on 10?vinyl. The five-track effort comprises soundcheck performances from the band’s 1996 tour. The set is limited to 4,000 copies in the U.S.
The Beastie Boys‘ “Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2″ will be out in a vinyl deluxe edition with a 60-page book, 5.1 version of the set and videos.
John Lennon‘s “Imagine” gets a 40th anniversary vinyl boxed set makeover.
Nirvana‘s “Nevermind” singles will be packaged as 10″s in a numbered slip case.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers‘ live vinyl LP “Kiss My Amps (Live)” features 7 tracks, from “Mojo” and a B-Side “Sweet William.”
Kings of Leonwill package together their early albums Youth & Young Manhood, Aha Shake Heartbreak, Because of The Times, and a fourth LP made up of unreleased studio and live tracks picked by the band themselves in a 4 LP vinyl box set titled The Early Vinyl. The set is limited to 3,250 copies in the U.S., and 1,200 international.

The Record Store Day initiative, aimed at supporting independent record stores, was founded in 2007 and has generated increased sales and attention toward participating retailers in the years since its inception.

I don’t know if anyone else experiences this but antiquiet takes more than twice as long to load than any other webpage for me no matter where I am in the world, and while that’s mere seconds it’s still visible. Y’all should probably check your formatting or something
I mean I’ve been a reader for years, but recently I’m really noticing the lag compared to shit like Hipster Runoff, where the amount of content is probably the same if not similar – though I suspect their formatting’s more linear. The biggest gripe I have is that your picture stream thing on the homepage for news items often lags for a while, as do your news items themselves in appearing on the page. I don’t have that poor an internet connection so I have to assume it’s an issue with the site itself but, again, I dunno. Just thought I’d throw that out there
I second this glitch. I’ve super fast internets but Antiquiet seems somewhat slow.
is it any better today? i’ve always paid special attention to keeping antiquiet blazing fast. as it’s always been for me. but after seeing these comments i started playing around with our caching settings. any change?
this record store day thing is turning into such a cash affair it is becoming sad…hopefully it really helps the said stores, i even doubt it.
