Radiohead Discuss New Music, Atoms For Peace Album

By Fernando Scoczynski Filho

Having recently done some great TV appearances in support of their latest album The King Of Limbs, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke spoke to Rolling Stone about the possibility of some new records in the near future.

Yorke mentioned that there are a few Radiohead songs already underway: “We can get things together quite rapidly at the moment. We have this version of [new song Come To Your Senses]. It’s a five-minute rehearsal, but it has the essence of what we need. There are a few of those. It would be fun to have them ready when we go to play next year. I don’t know how we would release them. It would be nice to make it all part of the flow and just enjoy it – not think about it too much.”

Regarding Atoms For Peace, the group featuring bassist Flea and longtime producer Nigel Godrich (which Yorke used to perform songs from his solo album The Eraser live), the promise of an LP was reassured. However, he stated plainly: ”It’s not good enough yet. [Me & Godrich] were excited about it for so long, then we kind of lost our way. So we’re taking some steps back.” Godrich added: ”The genesis was more like The Eraser – Thom and I in the studio. The idea was to generate the music, then record the band. We did that. Some of it worked. We also went back to some of the electronic stuff. It’s still in flux. We’re waiting for the lightning bolt to strike.”

Regardless of when those recordings are released, Radiohead are finally touring The King Of Limbs, starting next year – when Portishead’s Clive Deamer will finally be available to tour as a second drummer with Yorke & co.
