News: Primus
Hear Another New Primus Track, ‘Hoinfodaman’
Snarling Sabbath inspired guitar riffs and lyrics about soda can sodomy can only mean one thing: Primus is back. With their 7th full length effort Green Naugahyde hitting stores in less than two weeks, Rolling Stone has posted the track Hoinfodaman for your listening pleasure.
Where Green Naugahyde’s first single Tragedy’s A’ Comin’ sounded a bit too much like Primus songs from years past, Hoinfodaman manages to sound fresh while still featuring that patented Primus sound. An ode to selling out, the quick and quirky foul-mouthed jam features references to such American corporate staples as Subway, Chevy and Charlie Sheen’s former employer Hanes. It’s next to impossible to not sing along with Primus mastermind Les Claypool as he screams into his Sandman microphone “I used to be a pimp but now I’m Hoinfordaman.” You can listen to the track below via Rolling Stone.
Primus will wrap their tour in support of Green Naugahyde on October 29th at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA. A one-off appearance of Les Claypool’s traveling package tour known as the Oddity Faire, Primus will share the stage with all sorts of freaks and sideshow performers while the Omar Rodríguez-López group will handle opening duties.
