News: The Flaming Lips
Flaming Lips + Lightning Bolt Collab Is Spazzy Brilliance
A few weeks ago, the Flaming Lips and Lightning Bolt teamed up to release a joint EP, cleverly titled The Flaming Lips with Lightning Bolt. While the vinyl was limited to 2000 copies and has so far only been released at a handful of stores nationwide, frontman Wayne Coyne & Company shared the video for one of the EP’s tracks late last night.
I’m Working At NASA On Acid is a mixture of many things – psychedelic rock, spaghetti-western flavored guitar work and Wayne’s offbeat lyrics, nothing too out of the norm for the Lips. Likewise, the video starts off normal enough – shots of Coyne and the rest of the guys in a room with pink balloons, with the lyrics overlaid on top for some potential Lips-themed karaoke sessions.
At the three-minute mark, however, the song and the video explode into a mixture of pounding drum work and a rainbow of color. After about a minute of what can only be described as an epileptic’s nightmare, the video cuts to a close up of Lightning Bolt’s Brian Chippendale as the music slows to a crawl. He’s shown with a high-powered fan blowing on his face, covered in what looks like a mixture of calamine lotion and semen.
Does it make sense? Not really, but in a world where the Lips release music via gummy fetuses and assorted gummy body parts, what more would you expect?

Do you know where I can find the lyrics for this song?
