Check Out a New Chris Cornell Song: ‘The Keeper’
If you head over to Chris Cornell’s official site, you’ll be greeted with the streaming track The Keeper, a track I heard roughly 8 months ago at an advance screening of Gerard Butler’s new movie Machine Gun Preacher. It’s stuck with me since then, and now that it’s arrived, we’re happy to point you to it, but we’re not hosting it here just yet – and for good reason.
For 24 hours exclusively on ChrisCornell.com, all proceeds from the donations generated in the song’s purchase will go directly to Sam Childer’s Angels of East Africa charity. On Tuesday, August 30 the song will be available for sale on iTunes. The full soundtrack album is to be released on September 20. Machine Gun Preacher hits select US theatres on September 23.
Update: Listen to the song below.
Based on a true story, the movie is directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Monster’s Ball) and stars Gerard Butler as Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing criminal who finds faith leading him on a path to East Africa. Shocked by the mayhem in Sudan, Childers becomes a crusader for hundreds of refugee children fleeing death and enslavement. Check it out.

I dig it. Alain Johannes co-produced and played on the track, too.
No wonder this sounds pretty similar to something off of Euphoria Morning. Pretty solid track.
I can’t tell you how happy I am this doesn’t sound like anything from “Scream”.
