News: Björk
Watch Michel Gondry’s Video For Björk’s ‘Crystalline’
Björk is charging towards Biophilia’s September 27th release date with full steam. Almost a week after the unveiling of her Biophilia iOS app, the Icelandic singer has released the video for the album’s first single, Crystalline.
Crystalline sees Björk and director Michel Gondry reunited once more (Gondry directed several of Björk’s previous videos as well), as they immerse themselves in the world of stop-motion. The warmly psychedelic video displays a moon-like terrain in outer-space, as the singer herself emerges above it in a hovering orb-like structure, looking down upon her creations: crystals growing from the ground, shapes constantly materializing and dissolving, and an under-current of truly magnificent hand-drawn illustration floating through time and space. It’s a bizarre and strangely apocalyptic video, and one that we will gladly accept from the unremitting innovator that is Björk.

If anything…Bjork is an original. Crazy video…
In a landscape filled with sellouts, and corporate whores, Bjork has always done her own thing. No matter how bizarre and out there she may be .
musically this is pretty flaccid. she’s so auto-pilot these days. it’s not that the track doesn’t sound good. it’s just that her vocals, melodies, song structure are so predictable at this point. for someone who is so revered for her imagination and creativity, you’d think she’d try some different intervals at least, or get away from the verse-chorus thing. perhaps the song and album should be titled ‘Formulaic’.
