Watch Mars Volta Debut 3 Brand New Songs
By Fernando Scoczynski Filho
Tuesday, July 5, 2011
While there haven’t been any official announcements regarding The Mars Volta’s upcoming LP yet, the band is currently on tour, premiering live versions of their new songs, and we’ve got the scoop for you.
Back in March, the group tried out some material under the name “Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group”, and we showed you three new jams (Nocturniquet, The Whip Hands and Jacob Jam). Now, however, the Volta are touring Europe under their real name, making official debuts of songs to be on their sixth album – and they sound pretty fucking great so far. Here are three of them:
I’m Not Running Away (previously known as Aegis):
Trinkets Pale The Room (previously known as Moon) – watch out for Cedric’s off-mic singing around the 10 minutes mark:
Walk The Plank (previously known as Molochwalk):
There are still a couple of songs on the set that we haven’t got our hands on, but we’ll keep you posted.
The Mars Volta are set to tour the US later this month, supporting Soundgarden.

Hopefully this link works. This is a studio grade production of ‘Walk the Plank’.

I’d say it’s easily the most interesting stuff they’ve put out in awhile, yeah?

qweeqw – I think we must be listening to two different versions of the songs – “Trinkets…” was some of the hottest fire Cedric has ever spit into a song. Check the 9:58 mark and on. De-loused was a great album but to say it’s there best is a cop out… these guys have gotten more interesting and terrifying with each record (well, minus octahedron – which was good but not as challenging). CANNOT WAIT for the studio release.
