News:  The Flaming Lips

Listen To 3 Flaming Lips Gummy Fetus Songs

By Reverend Justito

For over 25 years The Flaming Lips have left their twisted acid-fueled mark upon our cultural landscape. Walk into any county fair this summer and one can’t think that Flips frontman Wayne Coyne should be getting a kickback on the overpriced yet hilarious new attraction “Hamster Ball on Water”. From boombox concerts in parking lots to their headline appearance at the Peach Pit After Dark, these Oklahoma City locals have always found a way to think outside of the box. Yet for the band’s latest creation, let’s just say it cooks for about 9 months inside of a box.

With the groups Record Store Day 2011 Gummy Skull long sold out, the Fearless Freaks have taken it to the next level of sugary cannibal goodness with Gummy Fetuses. A USB drive with three new songs by the Flaming Lips is buried deep inside the embryonic edibles; a must have for hardcore Flaming Lips fans while setting the Right To Life movement back 15 years. For those who simply can’t fathom the idea of gnawing upon the chewy gummy flesh of the unborn for three songs, you can take the easy way out and sample the new material below.

While it’s too early to tell if one day we’ll see Deep Fried Gummy Fetuses at the local County Fair, Coyne recently told Esquire magazine that he is toying with the idea of releasing gummy genital sex toys. In the event you have no desire for Gummy candy but still want your brains bashed in by the pride of Oklahoma City, you can catch them on tour across the USA through Halloween weekend.

  1. Gummy Fetus was released on June 25th, but only in very rare quantity in Kansas (http://psychexfutureheart.wordpress.com/2011/06/27/kansas).

This past Sunday night, Wayne Coyne dropped off more to OKC’s Guestroom…. and thus the streams above, which I posted on Monday at http://www.youtube.com/user/psychexfutureheart. More Fetuses will become available in the month(s) ahead.

Next up is Lightning Bolt vinyl 12″ (plus companion music video for one of its songs, “I Wanna Get High But I Don’t Want Brain Damage”), which will most likely be out within next week or so!
