News:  Eddie Vedder

Vedder & Friends Cover Springsteen’s ‘Drive All Night’

By Johnny Firecloud

Eddie Vedder’s stop at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia last week featured an emotional cover and tribute to a fallen kindred spirit.

The Pearl Jam frontman, on tour in support of his Ukulele Songs album, performed a rendition of Drive All Night, the penultimate track on Springsteen’s beautifully transformative album The River. He recruited special guests Glen Hansard of The Swell Season on vocals, as well as Jake Clemons on sax. Jake is the nephew of recently passed Clarence Clemons, Bruce’s longtime saxophonist.

Check out the track below – and yes, we’re aware that the quality’s lacking. You’ll survive.

Vedder first shared his sympathies during his performance of Without You on Letterman, but bringing Clarence’s nephew Jake onstage was a genuine tip-of-the-hat moment to a man loved by so many.
