News:  Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse Dead At 27

By Johnny Firecloud

It’s been a very long time coming, and nobody can call it even the slightest suggestion of a surprise, but it’s sad news nonetheless: Amy Winehouse is dead.

Nick Buckley (Head of News atĀ  London’s Sunday Mirror) is reporting that troubled soul singerĀ has died at the age of 27. “Police sources have confirmed that Winehouse’s is dead. Found at her North London home at 3.54pm. Drink and drugs overdose suspected,” he tweeted.

James Saville, News Editor for the Sunday Mirror, confirmed the singer’s death via Twitter on Saturday morning as well.

Winehouse’s demise comes as little surprise to anyone familiar with her recurring crack binges and various narcotic escapades/relapses. Her recent onstage performances displayed an atrociously bad sense of professionalism, and she was consistently unable to shake her reputation as the Crackie of Camden despite numerous trips to rehab.

Sensitivity is demanded at a time like this, but for a girl who first came to our attention with a song about refusing to go to rehab, the final chapter in this story seemed written from the start. She even made my 2010 Celebrity Death Watch list.

Here’s one of Winehouse’s more coherent performances:

Here’s a track called 27 from MIA, written before the Winehouse’s death:

Pete Doherty, this is your wake-up call.

This is really a bummer. I liked her voice a lot and I loved Back To Black, what a fucking great album (even though it was overplayed to death).
I guess it’s not a surprise to most, but for some reason I had this idea in my head that she would get her shit together and get clean, or at least get off the hard stuff.
At least now she’s immortalized as part of the “27 Club”.
    rip Amy.

Sorry but other than a good voice her sound came from who she worked with. She was a waster and a crack head so nothing of value lost here. Amy Crackhouse has gone and her record sales have soared which reminds me how fickle the mainstream, music buying public are. I’m just waiting for some dummy to label her “voice of a generation” to give her the icon status so the re-packaged greatest hits can keep the money flowing.

Shes dead, so what, people die of things that are not their fault but most people don’t give a fuck. She did this herself and she deserved the consequences of what she started.
