News:  Kasabian

Kasabian Teases New Album With Video Interview

By Reverend Justito

It has been nearly two years since Kasabian released their third album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, and while criminally ignored in America, the record claimed Album on the Year honors at the UK’s 2009 Q Awards. Having seized the throne left vacant by Oasis as the biggest rock and roll band to call the United Kingdom home, much of the music world is buzzing as information on the Leicestershire-based band’s fourth album begins to see the light of day.

NME has recently posted the first in a series of videos featuring the band discussing their latest collaboration with Dan The Automator. When not calling out vocalist Tom Meighan for his constant whistling, guitarist Sergio Pizzorno explains how spirits came down and took over the song writing process. While there is no name for the album at this time, it is due to hit store shelves in October.

In addition to an intimate sold-out U.K. club tour launching this weekend, Some Kind Of Awesome is reporting that a new song called Switchblade Smile will debut on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 Program on Tuesday June 7th. While there is no doubt that the song will be a massive hit across the pond, perhaps the biggest question for Kasabian is if this is the album that turns them into a household name here in the United States.

  1. The band debuted Switchblade Smile at the first club show and it’s fucking massive. It may have enough intestinal fortitude to break the US airwaves.

    • Thanks for the tip on the new track. I did some YouTube searching and it sounds really good at the Sheffield show. Though, I even liked most of West Ryder, so I’m not sure why they haven’t exactly caught on in the U.S. yet.
