Incubus Deliver ‘Promises, Promises’ Video
After teasing fans with a behind the scenes clip last week, Incubus has premiered the video for their single Promises, Promises off their excellent new album If Not Now, When? Check it out below:
Pretty much what we expected – a band lip synching onstage, Brandon Boyd lying in vaguely Jesus Christ poses in the middle of a freeway, and flashing lights on a backdrop behind the very earnest-looking band. I know it’s good business to give the girls & gays some bare-chested-Boyd eye candy, but how long do we have to pretend it’s cool to watch a band pretend to play their song while looking longingly into the camera? With so many bands making incredibly creative & artistic videos that don’t center on themselves pretending to play their instruments, it’s a bit cringeworthy to see these boys taking the vanity shortcut.
If Not Now, When? due out July 12th on Epic Records. Check out our review of the record, and preorder If Not Now, When? at the official Incubus site.

I dont know guys but Brandon Boyd and company are dangerously flirting with looking more like Maroon 5 in this video.
hate to agree, but I do.
Dear Incubus,
W T F??????
You’ve been off my radar since A Crow Left of The Murder. TRYING to watch this video was my first revisit since, due to the positive press.
WHEN THE HELL DID YOU LOSE EVERY ELEMENT THAT USED TO BE INCUBUS?
I’d expect this swill from some no-talent MTV-pandering soft rock group. Brandon’s voice is practically unrecognizable until a high note was hit. If the rest of this album is this crap-tastic, I might have to burn SCIENCE, Make Yourself, & Morning View, and feed the discs (remember those things? pre-itunes) to my hungry shredder.
I couldn’t get past the first minute of the song.
Feels like someone just hooked my ears up to an IV drip of dog shit.
….Also forgot to add:
Maroon 5- look out, you’ve now got competition.
I hate it when great bands make crappy videos. Soundgarden made stupid videos (except for fell on black days). I love that Foo Fighters have a sense of humor, but how many more times do we need to see them dress up and act goofy during an otherwise serious song?
And I’m a hard core defender of Incubus’ musical direction, but their videos mostly suck too.
And hey Brandon, how about letting the music speak for itself? He’s been doing a lot of talking about his songs lately, explaining them and stuff. And man he is wordy. I like that he has a way with words, it’s great for songwriting, but all of his talking and philosophising about his own art makes him come off as quite pretentious.
It makes it harder to defend them from all of the “Make another SCIENCE” idiots.
Holy shit…my dinky just threw up in my underoos….that was HOT! **presses finger to lips and “sizzles” on ass**
“If Not Now, When?”….what…come out of the closet? ZING!
Hurry, New Limp Bizkit video is out now, post it!!
Chill out overly harsh critics… Incubus is doing just fine and a music video does not define a band. They have made plenty of awesome videos before and I am sure they will again in the future. Why does it bother so many of you that the video is a standard one with them pretending to play their instruments? They do not need an overly artistic or well edited video to enhance their music… Their music stands alone. Relax…
i don’t even have to press play to tell you this is the gayest thing ever posted on this site.
Incubus, meet Linkin Park. Selling out is quite profitable.
And Im a big Incubus fan, but things changed with the Crow album, like the departure of their original bassist.
This latest iteration is unacceptable.
