70th Birthday Delight: White Stripes Cover Bob Dylan
The funny thing about Bob Dylan – while reverence for the man’s work and accomplishments seems never-ending, the most frequently-listened tracks of his tend to be cover versions done by other people. Hell, I’m personally guilty of such derivative offenses, outside of the occasional spin of Blood on the Tracks or Highway 61 Revisited.
We’ll keep the trend going with a celebration of Dylan’s 70th birthday today (he doesn’t look a day over 95 though), courtesy of The White Stripes. This decade-old performance of Dylan’s Isis, the second track off his Desire album, is a personal favorite. The video quality’s no good, but the audio is what matters:
Happy birthday Bob, you old crypt-keeper genius.
