Bon Iver Returns To Heartbreak With ‘Calgary’
After almost a year of only making special appearances at Kanye West concerts, Justin Vernon has finally returned under the Bon Iver banner with Calgary, our first taste from his upcoming sophomore album, Bon Iver.
You can listen to (and download) the delightful track below:
Bon Iver which is the full-length follow-up to Vernon’s heartbreakingly mesmerizing 2008 debut album For Emma, Forever Ago is scheduled to drop on June 21st, with a summer tour already planned in support of the record. The album was mixed and recorded over the course of 3 years in a former veterinarian clinic Vernon and his brother remodeled in Wisconsin – quite a different recording process from Bon Iver’s initial album, which was recorded in a secluded cabin in the northwestern areas of the state.
If Calgary is any indication, Bon Iver’s sophomore album may surmount the expectations surrounding him since his magnificent debut.
Each song on the new record is based on a different geographical location. You can see the full tracklist to Bon Iver below:
1. Perth
2. Minnesota, WI
3. Holocene
4. Towers
5. Michicant
6. Hinnom, TX
7. Wash.
8. Calgary
9. Lisbon, OH
10. Beth/Rest
Justin Vernon will be hitting up the UK live circuit this fall as well:

October 22 – Edinburgh Usher Hall
October 24 – HMV Hammersmith Apollo, London
November 9 – O2 Academy, Birmingham
November 10 – Leeds O2 Academy

Keep up at the Bon Iver official site.

I honestly thought this track was underwhelming and aimless, but each to their own I guess
anything he does in gayngs is infinitely better
put some piano and it will be a coldplay tune with Michael Stipe in backing vocals (which I can’t say it’s necessarily a ‘bad’ thing per se…)
