Listen to Two New Radiohead Songs: ‘Supercollider’ And ‘The Butcher’

By Morad Moazami

It’s that time of the year again: Record Store Day, where music fans around the world pump money into their local record stores in an all out attempt to keep the tradition of overpriced music and apathetic record store owners intact. While some believe the complementary sticker that comes with a vinyl purchase is good enough; for us, swimming through a crowd of ironic t-shirts only to find that our favorite record is twice the price that it is on eBay may not be as pleasant. With that said, the Record Store Day special releases of limited edition records like Deftones’ Covers and the reissue of Nirvana’s longed-for EP Hormoaning make this usually-disappointing day worth the trek.

Another release that caught our eyes was Radiohead’s Supercollider / The Butcher 12” that was, unfortunately for us, strictly limited to the UK and Japan. The two songs, which for whatever reason were left out of The King Of Limbs, began circulating on the Internet earlier today:

Supercollider and The Butcher were both recorded during the King Of Limbs sessions, and with their guitar-free characteristics and trademark blips and bloops (made beautiful, of course, by a band that actually knows what it’s doing) could have easily found a place on Radiohead’s latest.

The Butcher could pass as a track on Thom’s Eraser.

I can’t be the only one who thoroughly enjoyed that? Can I?
