News:  Radiohead

There Is No ‘King Of Limbs’ Part 2

By Morad Moazami

The King Of Limbs only has one limb after all. To put the many rumors and conspiracy theories to rest, Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien appeared on BBC 6 Music today to confirm that there is no “Part 2” to their most recent release, The King Of Limbs.

“There are [other] songs that we have started, that we never finished, but there’s not like seven or eight finished songs waiting in the wings to be released …When we start a new record, we tend to start afresh. It’s kind of an evolutionary thing – only the fittest survive.”

O’Brien also acknowledged the album’s surprisingly short playtime:

“It’s the way the album sequenced best as far as we were concerned… [We] were aware that 40 minutes, 41 minutes was about the optimum time we feel for a record.”

Although a King Of Limbs, Part 2 may not be in the works as many Radiohead fans were anticipating, the band is nonetheless set to release a UK-only limited edition 12” this Saturday on Record Store Day, consisting of two new songs, The Butcher and Supercollider.

Here’s a beautiful live version of Supercollider:

How many songs are on the first one? 4? And they suck anyways.

  3. Cam says:

Well that’s a let down. I was hoping they would release something with some balls to supplement the lack thereof on TKOL.

there shouldn’t have been any fokkin’ lotus dance in the first place….

The finished version will be full of blips and bloops and probably have zero piano.

So when Ed says “only the fittest survive” what he means is…”We write a bunch of songs, then Thom comes in and scraps them all & we record his 6 new tracks & call it a Radiohead record cuz it will sell ALOT better than “The Eraser 2″. What they should have asked Ed is “with a songwriter like Thom Yorke & a guitar player like Jonny Greenwood, what exactly do you do?” Im sorry than was just mean. Ed is great as Jim Halpert on The Office.
