Frontman Perry Farrell shared this little gem with Chilean radio today, after heading down with the boys for the upcoming Lollapalooza Chile festival. It’s not exactly a callback to the early Jane’s era, with an underwhelming chorus and an overall sound that would’ve made for a convincing Strays outtake. All the same, new Jane’s is new Jane’s, and we’re happy to have it.

Perry recently spoke to Rolling Stone about the new Jane’s alum, as well as the struggles to keep a bassist in their lineup. The new album saw the departure of two bassists – first with the short-lived return of original bassist Eric Avery and then the even shorter-lived experience with ex-GNR low end Duff McKagan.

“It’s definitely like, as Brian Wilson puts it: The dry hump,” he said. “We’re waiting and waiting and waiting to release this record. It’s like watching something that you really want. You become an animal. Your desire grows and grows.”

The group, which also includes Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins, will release The Great Escape Artist this Summer, their first since 2003′s Strays (which featured another bassist as well, Chris Chaney). TV on the Radio member and Yeah Yeah Yeahs producer Dave Sitek is assisting production.

“He’s like a scientist, and he’s not afraid of making a monster,” Farrell said. “It just keeps getting gnarlier and gnarlier.”

The album is being produced by Rich Costey, who will help the band condense a wealth of tracks into 45 minutes. Farrell said potential songs include the “twisted” ballad Splash a Little Water on It and the rocker The Irresistible Force Met the Immovable Object, which reconsiders the Big Bang Theory as a “cosmic sexual exploit.”

If that doesn’t scream Jane’s Addiction, what the hell does?

Keep an eye on the band’s official site for updates – or just stay tuned to Antiquiet. You know we’ll be bringing you the goods.

damn right about the chorus…where’s the punch?? overall bland song but it’s Jane’s so I best STFU and wait for the rest…. Would that be Duff playing bass or Sitek or who?

This track could be golden if they called up whoever setup the bass tones for BRMC’s “Stop”.

  3. Typical vocal melody by Perry, but that’s what Jane’s fans have come to know and love! The crunchy and driving pocket is good support for Navarro’s atmospheric guitar work here. I dig it. I enjoyed Strays, anyways :)
