Following hot on the heels of Wasting Light‘s April 12 release will be Medium Rare, a vinyl-only compendium of the Foo Fighters’ arsenal of classic cover tunes, released to commemorate this year’s annual Record Store Day (at participating stores only). Medium Rare includes the band’s versions of Paul McCartney & Wings’ Band On The Run recorded at Abbey Road, Pink Floyd’s Have A Cigar, Gary Numan’s Down In The Park and Mose Allison’s (by way of The Who) Young Man Blues, as well as Husker Du’s Never Talking To You Again, The Ramones’ Danny Says and Gerry Rafferty’s Baker Street.

Medium Rare marks the first and only time all these and more have been compiled in one place, along with previously unreleased versions of Thin Lizzy’s Bad Reputation and The Zombies’ This Will Be Our Year.

Tracklist: Band On The Run, I Feel Free, Life of Illusion, Young Man Blues, Bad Reputation, Darling Nikki, Down In The Park, Baker Street, Danny Says, Have A Cigar, Never Talking To You Again, Gas Chamber, This Will Be Our Year

Have yourself a bigger helping of the Foo at FooFighters.com, and thanks to SomeKindofAwesome for the heads up.

No Little Nicky on that vinyl? That would be sick.

  2. pupo says:

New tunes are a-ok, but the goofiness of mr Grohl is getting a little bit tiresome…

I wholeheartedly disagree. His goofiness is part of his personality, and I wouldn’t want him to change a bit. The world needs goofs. I am looking forward to this release.

  3. Elijah's Rain says:

Awesome video! I for one am digging the new stuff.

  4. fmuff says:

Song: good. Video: bad. The video fails to capture any of the numerous unique qualities FF has, such as sense of humor, energy, raw talent. Boo!

Hey, Mr. Rope director, Apple called. They want their shitty iPod commercial back!

    • Guess Apple will be calling Dave then, he directed this one himself. (Not that I disagree with you re: lack of everything that makes a Foo video good. Swing and a miss on this one IMO.)

  5. Lara says:

(By the way, Dave also directed White Limo, so we know he’s got it in him to do a good job with the whole retro schtick. That one hit it out of the park.)
