New Foo Fighters: ‘Arlandria’ & ‘Bridge Burning’

By Johnny Firecloud

So previewing clips from the entire new Foo Fighters album wasn’t enough for you, eh? That’s alright, because we’ve got two full-scale blasts for you in the form of two full new Foo jams.

Tuesday afternoon, Zane Lowe premiered a new Foo Fighters song entitled Bridge Burning, off of Wasting Light, and we’ve got it here for you:

Lots of screaming, and just as much power-pop. Everybody wins.

Now here’s Arlandria, the fifth track off the upcoming release, a jam that flirts with some nursery-rhyme melody before an impassioned, ballsy chorus that eclipses Bridge Burning considerably, far as we’re concerned.

April 12 here we come! Also head to FooFightersFilm.com for info on even more screenings of the Foo’s documentary film Back and Forth. After all the LA area shows sold out, they opened up more LA theaters, including a spot called Rave 18 in LA. There, the experience kicks up a notch, where cats 21+ can get their booze service on while checkin’ out the flick.

Special thanks to Bryce from 107.7 The End and Some Kind of Awesome.

loved it to death but that ‘bridge burning’ chorus is a blatant Homme rip-off…

I have a proper quality, non-radiorip-version of Bridge. Want me to mail it??

    Can’t wait for Wasting Light

These just aren’t that good. I feel like you guys are being a little too easy on the Foo’s because you got the star treatment, being shown around in their white limo. I get it, the good will is flowing, but come on, these songs are mediocre at best. I’m sure they’re better live, because the Foo’s put on a hell of a show for sure. But come on, I’ve listened to these tracks a few times and I’ve already forgotten what they sound like. The promise of that bridge burning clip didn’t exactly turn in to anything. I’m kind-of disappointed.

    • Too easy? We’re posting the songs. We took the little limo ride at SXSW, after 99% of our previous coverage of the band. Shit’s got nothing to do with “star treatment”. We heard the record live the first time they played it, and it excited us. End scene.

These songs are easily better than 99% of what passes for music these days. Are they the best tracks Dave’s ever written? Probably not, but still damn good. You can see that his time with Josh has influenced his songwriting a bit, and that’s to be expected. I think it’s cool. Brings a new flavor to the foos sound. I’m really liking this new shit. I haven’t been this excited for new Foos since Colour and the Shape. Psyched.
