News: Le Butcherettes
Introducing Le Butcherettes
Love-snarl punk trio Le Butcherettes caught our attention just before announcing the release of their debut album Sin Sin Sin this Spring, as well as a slew of U.S. tour dates that include a highly anticipated performance at SXSW in Austin, TX on March 19th.
Led by 21-year-old vocalist/guitarist/pianist Teri Gender Bender, Le Butcherettes’ songs & untethered energy evoke early-era Yeah Yeah Yeahs, with the seductive energy of The Kills in an explosive minimalist package. But enough with the comparisons – have a listen to Henry Don’t Got Love off their upcoming album:
Originally forming as a duo, Le Butcherettes began in 2008 as the brainchild of Bender, a self-proclaimed modern feminist. After rapidly building a name for themselves in the Mexican underground music scene, their debut EP Kiss & Kill won recognition from Mexico’s Indie-O Awards in 2009, and by the middle of the year, the band were tapped by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs to take part in their It’s Blitz tour. They seized the opportunity, rocking overload nightly audiences of 25,000+ & even winning over the members of the headliners, who often dedicated songs to the band on the road.
Following several high-profile appearances, Le Butcherettes moved to Los Angeles in late 2010, after which Teri recruited renowned drummer Gabe Serbian (The Locust) & bassist Jonathan Hischke (Hella, Broken Bells) to update the lineup. Support dates with The Dead Weather followed soon after, an endorsement guaranteed to open doors.
Sin Sin Sin was produced by The Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriguez Lopez, who also plays bass on all of the album’s tracks, & will issue the album May 10th on Rodriguez Lopez Productions via Sargent House.

Sounds like Link Wray on guitar when it breaks down…looking forward to hearing the rest of it…
The Instrumenstruals……Now there’s an all female punk band name for ya
Nice…it peeked my interest. I kinda miss old school Yeah Yeah Yeahs!
Le Butcherettes are classy yet provacative and fierce. I love this band. Gabe Serbian is a great drummer and Teri is so fucking awesome at everything she does.
