Dr. Dre Drops Epic ‘I Need A Doctor’ Video
The video for I Need a Doctor by Dr. Dre (featuring Eminem & Skylar Grey) has arrived, and it’s a pretty damn cinematically ambitious return for a man who’s about to drop the most anticipated album in Hip-Hop history.
Opening with a highlight sequence spanning the legend’s entire career (with a particular emphasis on Eazy-E), the video takes off when Dre gets in his Ferrari and hits top speed… sending his car flipping, flying and spinning into a mangled wreck.
“Years later,” a team of doctors can be seen piecing together the rap hero, while Eminem steps in with a concerned look. He raps to a comatose Dre, who’s in some kind of suspension tank, about how the N.W.A. anchor gave him a chance when no one would and saved his life – and now it’s his turn to return the favor.
That’s a bit of a narrative stretch, but at least Skylar Grey finally gets some screen time (as opposed to her relegation to the shadows during her Grammy performance), singing the hook to the most promising track we’ve heard yet off Dre’s long-awaited Detox album.
Some co-workers and I had a chat just yesterday about how the music video is a dead art form. It appears all the art form needed was a Doctor.
I was half expecting Dre to bulge out into a ginat green mass and destroy the city towards the end of that video.
Sounds a lot better than it did at the Grammy’s… particularly Skyler Grey’s VOX.
The whole opening sequence on the PCH was funny…I was chillin by that waterfall a year ago on the way to Coachella.
I never liked the self-importance of (this kins of) rap, never will. This video is proof why. Just wanted to share that I don’t think the singing chick in the video is Grey, because I had to go somewhere else to see the video (not available through this embed in Germany) and stumbled upon a live show on MTV where she said she plays a doctor in the video. So yeah, fucking thing sucks altogether.

Dre’s lookin mighty ripped these days. Been working out, looks like. And I like how they stole the whole “300″ oracle at delphi thing… somehow it works.
