News:  Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Meet The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Class Of 2011

By Reverend Justito

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame class of 2011 has been unveiled and the diverse list of new members should make for a highly entertaining induction ceremony next spring.

Leading the pack is shock-rocker turned golfer Alice Cooper. Having been snubbed for consideration for years, most tragically passed up for wannabes KISS last year, Cooper and his band were finally voted into the Hall on their first nomination. When asked about how long it took to get the original King of shock into the Hall, Cooper commented: “I got to the point where I was saying, ‘OK, I’m the Pete Rose of rock ‘n’ roll!’ So now that it’s a reality, it’s a different take on it. Now I sit there and go, ‘Wow. Wow! We’ve got to really get up and play, and assume the position of being in the Hall Of Fame.’ It’ll be great.”

Also making the Hall is legendary singer-songwriter Tom Waits. While he found his name on the ballot on numerous occasions, 2011 is the year that the graveled voice singer finally makes the cut. He is the only inductee from the class of 2011 that is not appearing on the ballot the first time.

Rounding out the class of 2011 are Darlene Love and 1984 Songwriter Hall Of Fame inductee Neil Diamond. With 115 million units moved worldwide, it’s hard to believe Diamond was not welcomed into the Hall decades ago.

Nominees left out in the cold for another year include Beastie Boys, Chic and Bon Jovi. While it remains to be seen if they make the cut for 2012, the class of 2011 will be inducted on March 14th at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.

Alice is definitely deserving. His music spans so many genres. To this day he puts on a hell of a live show.

Not a bad group after all. Waits and Cooper certainly deserve recognition, my only beef being that those who decide inductees seem to be getting away from the “Rock” part of the name “Rock and Roll” Hall of fame. One day Rush will get their due…..

chic would have a better shot if they changed their names to “that bassline on goodtimes”

Awesome about Tom Waits and Alice Cooper.

2012 should be interesting…Guns N Roses and Beastie Boys!
