PJ Harvey Introduces ‘Written On The Forehead’

By Johnny Firecloud

The new PJ Harvey album has been high on our list of albums we’re looking forward to in 2011, but this new track has us scratching our heads a bit.

The jam has its endearing qualities, but the world music angle is quite the departure from her more recent work. The sweetness of the vocal is undermined by the repeated refrain, “Let it burn,” and while we’re all for a bit of cheery pyromania, it’s a strange bird of a tune that confirms we don’t really know what we’re in for when Let England Shake drops next year.
